Ice climbing in Kandersteg (Switzerland)

Ice climbing in Kandersteg (Switzerland)

Kandersteg, a small quiet village in the Swiss Alps, has become in a few years a mecca for European ice climbing. It is one of the most beautiful lines in a magnificent setting, surrounded by high peaks such as Altes, Doldenhorn and Wildstrubel, and overlooked by the great lake of the Oeschinensee. The cold weather meets there every winter, ensuring particularly good ice conditions. Despite a very large number of stunts, the site is rather reserved for good climbers; however, some icefalls very accessible allow you to get back in shape! From the village centre, everything is done by foot: the approaches are made directly from the hotel, from which you can observe a large part of the icefalls!
