Raquettes & nuit en igloo

Raquettes & nuit en igloo

The mountain leaders of the Annecy guide bureau propose you to live the ultimate Inuit experience: building and sleeping in an igloo! The adventure will start with a snowshoe walk to get away from civilization and find our bivouac place for the night. Once the location is confirmed, you will be divided into groups of 2 or 3, and supervised by your mountain leader, you will build your snow shelter for the night.

An igloo night

An igloo night

Strong points of the stay

  • A new experience of snowshoeing.
  • A workshop to learn how to build a snow shelter.
  • An unusual night.

Day 1 : Climb to the bivouac site

From 200 to 500m of D+ 1h30 to 2h of walking

Departure briefing at 10am at at the cross-country skiing centre on the Glières plateau. This moment will be the occasion to check the equipment of each participant and to distribute the material for the two days to be distributed in our backpacks (min 70L).

After the departure briefing, we start our ascent towards our bivouac place. We will evolve between forest and alpine pastures off-trail, in a virgin and preserved environment. Then, the view opens up on the surrounding mountains. It is time to find the ideal place to set up our bivouac. In the afternoon, we will build our snow shelter, make a table in the snow for the meal, enjoy the evening colors while making the aperitif, share a good meal and enjoy the show that nature offers us.

Night in an igloo.

Day 2 : Return

From 200 to 500m of D- 1h to 1h30 of walking

After a good night in your cold sleeping bags, you will be the first to watch the sun rise over Mont Blanc! What a privilege! After breakfast, you will have to set up camp in order to get back to the start of the day before with a head full of beautiful memories.

End of the stay at the end of the morning.
