Le Cervin -Matterhorn 4478m

Le Cervin -Matterhorn 4478m

The Matterhorn is the ultimate example of a sharp mountain. A huge pyramid culminating at 4478m, there is no easy way to reach it, so you have to climb one of its four long and aerial ridges, both on the Swiss and Italian sides.

Matterhorn, one of the most beautiful 4000m in the Alps

Climbing the Matterhorn is a unique adventure! The summit is aesthetically pleasing and its ascent requires the complete skills of an all-terrain mountaineer. A long adventure where it is advisable to be well prepared and acclimatized.

PREVISIONAL PROGRAM :

Day 1: Ascent to the Hörnli refuge (3260m)
Departure mid-morning for Zermatt. Ascent to the hut from the Schwarzsee station (2583m) reached with the ski lifts. It takes 3 hours from the cable car station.

Day 2: Ascent of the Matterhorn (4478m) and back via the Hörnli ridge
Departure before dawn. The Hörnli ridge is a very long route consisting mainly of mixed rocky outcrops, equipped with fixed ropes. Beware the route is very busy in summer! The last part is a mixed or snowy ridge where you have to put on crampons. Descent by the same itinerary with de-escalation and abseiling to reach the refuge (about 4 to 5 hours of descent). Return to Zermatt with the cable car from Schwarzsee. The round trip from Hornli Hutte takes between 8 and 10 hours.
