Snowshoeing: Semnoz

The Semnoz is the ideal mountain to start snowshoeing. The reliefs are soft, the landscapes are varied (forest, mountain pastures) and the view from the summit is exceptional on the surrounding mountains. The 360° panorama stretches from the Jura to the Ecrins via the Aravis chain and the Mont-Blanc! At the crest of Châtillon (1702m), the highest point of Semnoz, you can on clear days have a view of the 3 lakes of the area (Lake Annecy, Lake Bourget and Lake Geneva). Moreover, the starting routes are only 30 minutes drive from the center of Annecy.

My first snowshoeing experience

A snowshoe hike is the pleasure of walking on a fresh snow mattress in wild and virgin spaces. During this session (3 hours for the half day and more than 4 hours for the full day), we will explore off-trail itineraries on the Semnoz mountain. You will be able to familiarize yourself with walking technique thanks to the advice of your mountain guide. In the middle of the forest, we will study together the possible traces left by the wildlife that survives in the hostile environment of the mountain in winter. You will also learn how to recognize the summits of Haute-Savoie. This activity can be practiced in family with children (from 8 years old).

Level required for this outing: From beginner to intermediate (See the article on snowshoe levels for self-assessment)
