Steep Skiing Courses

nitiation au ski de pente raide

Steep slope skiing, also known as "extreme skiing", is a discipline of alpine skiing that involves descending very steep slopes, usually off-piste or in the high mountains. These slopes can have gradients of up to 50 degrees or more, making them extremely technical and technically and physically demanding. Steep slope skiers are often equipped with specific gear, including special skis and safety equipment such as ropes, ice axes and crampons to cope with the steep and icy sections. They must also have solid avalanche training and knowledge of the mountains, as well as extensive off-piste skiing experience, and use all the techniques of mountaineering. Descending steep slopes can be extremely risky due to avalanches, rock falls and unpredictable weather conditions, so steep-slope skiers must be prepared to exercise caution, make informed decisions and be able to handle mountain emergencies. This course is reserved for experienced and competent skiers who wish to learn a first approach.
