Winter Trapping Course

Trapper Snowshoe Camp: 3 Half-Days in the Bornes-Aravis

Treat your children to a unique winter adventure with this 3-half-day trapper snowshoe camp in the heart of the Bornes-Aravis mountain range. Led by a state-certified mountain guide, they’ll enjoy a different and fun experience each day, exploring nature and the snow-covered mountains.

On the agenda: building a snow shelter, observing the snowpack and snow crystals, snowshoeing to track wildlife, and an introduction to mountain safety using an avalanche transceiver during a treasure hunt. An original and educational way to discover the mountains in winter, all while having fun outdoors.

Good to know about the training
Winter Trapping Course for 8- to 12-Year-Olds

The price include
Guidance by a state-certified mountain guide throughout the entire program.
Equipment rental for the workshops.
The price does not include
Rental of snowshoes and poles (available for rent on-site).
Transportation to the trailhead.
Participants’ personal gear.
Anything not listed under “The price includes.”
Schedule and meeting place
Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the base of the slopes at Col de la Croix Fry (Manigod), under the sign that says “Beauregard Nordic Ski Area”

ACCESS
- via the Aravibus shuttle network (Line 8 from La Clusaz / Line M from Thônes)
- by car (vehicles must be equipped with snow tires and snow chains in snowy conditions).

Schedule
9:30 AM – 12:30 PM

The meeting place will be confirmed the day before by the mountain guide in charge of the outing.
Group
COLLECTIVE OUTING: Confirmed outings only from 5 people booked / niche. Groups can be formed up to a maximum of 8 participants / 1 mountain leader.

Beginner level
Participant’s personal equipment
Warm, high and waterproof hiking or snow shoes (no Moon Boot or low-top sneakers!!!) suitable for snowshoeing, warm, breathable clothing adapted to the weather (fleece, down jacket, windproof and waterproof jacket, gloves or mittens, hat), backpack for picnics or snacks, water (1L for half days to 2L for full days), sunscreen, cap, sunglasses (mask in strong wind)

For safety reasons, people who do not have the right equipment on the day of the outing may be refused by the mountain leader and the outing will not be refunded
