Grand Paradis

Grand Paradis

Gran Paradiso and its Madonna, the only 100% Italian 4000. A mythical summit in the heart of the Italian National Park, accessible in two days of snow running. A day from the car park in the valley towards the refuge. After a good night's sleep and an Italian-style meal, we'll head for the summit. The ascent offers splendid panoramic views and we can enjoy the rich fauna of the national park.

Program

Day 1: Meet in the morning a few kilometres before Pont in the Valsavarenche, at the start of the hiking trail leading to the Chabod refuge. Climb up to the Federico Chabod hut (alt. 2750m) after around 2? hours' walking and 850 vertical metres of ascent. A less popular alternative to the classic route.

Overnight at the Refuge Chabod (alt. 2750m), a refuge on a human scale where we'll share a typical Italian dinner with a view of Gran Paradiso. The ideal place to spend the night before the second day of the programme.

Day 2: We set off to reach the Laveciau glacier, which is easy but has a marked alpine feel on the crevassed north face, before rejoining the classic route (which is much more popular) at the end. There is a final steep slope and then the famous final rocky ridge, easy but airy, leading to the statue of the Madonna at 4061m.

Descend via the classic route that takes you past the Vittorio Emmanuel refuge for an Italian-style lunch break.

Return to the Pont car park at the end of the day.

Approximately 10 hours' walk. D+ 1311m, D- 2110m.

IMPORTANT :

In the event of bad weather conditions announced before departure, your guide will suggest that you postpone your ascent until the following summer, depending on the availability of refuges.

As a mountain professional, the guide reserves the right to adapt, modify or shorten the itinerary according to weather conditions and/or the level of one or more participants. In this case, no refund will be made.

Any day of supervision added to the programme initially proposed will be charged at €500/day (excluding accommodation, catering and transport costs).
