Ski Touring in Narvik: Wild and Undiscovered Norway
Located north of the Arctic Circle, the Narvik region has everything required for an outstanding ski-touring adventure: spectacular fjords, mountains rising directly from sea level, often-abundant snow and vast landscapes overlooking the Arctic Ocean.
Less crowded than the Lofoten Islands or the Lyngen Alps, the region is particularly appealing for its wild character, varied terrain and wide range of possible routes. Depending on conditions, the guides may select panoramic summits, broad bowls, slopes overlooking the fjords, sheltered valleys or more alpine itineraries.
Each day’s programme is planned according to the weather, wind, visibility, snowpack stability and the group’s actual ability. This flexibility allows the guides to seek out the best available conditions while maintaining an appropriate safety margin.
A Full Week of Ski Touring
The trip runs from Saturday to Saturday, providing a well-balanced format between travel time and time spent in the mountains.
After arriving and settling into the lodge on Day 1, participants enjoy six full days of ski touring, from Day 2 to Day 7. Day 8 is dedicated to the group transfer to the airport and the return journey.
This format allows participants to make the most of the destination without sacrificing a day of skiing for the return journey.
Guiding
The trip is available in two configurations:
- 6 participants accompanied by 1 IFMGA Mountain Guide
- 10 participants accompanied by 2 IFMGA Mountain Guides
The guides hold internationally recognised IFMGA qualifications. They are responsible for selecting the routes, assessing conditions, managing the pace and ensuring the safety of the group.
For the 10-participant option, the two guides can adapt the organisation of the group and, where appropriate, form separate groups based on participants’ ability and expectations.
An Exceptional Lodge Overlooking the Fjord
The group stays for seven nights in a lodge located in Efjord, surrounded by a wild landscape of fjords and mountains.
The property comprises three separate buildings, allowing participants, guides and the various communal areas to be accommodated comfortably.
After each day’s skiing, participants can enjoy:
- a panoramic sauna with direct views over the fjord;
- an outdoor hot tub;
- a private jetty providing access to the fjord;
- the opportunity to swim or fish, depending on conditions;
- several shared areas designed for relaxing and socialising;
- an exceptional waterfront setting surrounded by mountains.
Room allocations are arranged according to group size and composition. Rooms are shared and may be configured as twin, double or multi-occupancy rooms, depending on availability. A single room may be available for an additional supplement, subject to availability.
Meals and Private Chef
Meals are organised at the lodge to provide a comfortable experience suited to the rhythm of each ski-touring day.

Each morning, participants prepare their packed lunch using the provisions made available at the lodge.

Suggested Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Narvik and Transfer to the Lodge
Arrival at Evenes Airport, also known as Harstad/Narvik Airport, within the arrival window communicated by the organiser.
Participants are welcomed at the airport before a group transfer to the lodge in the Efjord area. After settling into their rooms, the guides present the trip, check the participants’ equipment and provide a safety briefing.

Day 2: First Day of Ski Touring
The first outing takes place in an area close to the lodge. This initial day provides an opportunity to become familiar with the Norwegian terrain, review the group’s skills and gradually establish a suitable pace.
The route is selected according to the current weather and snow conditions.

Day 3: Ski Touring Above the Fjords
A day of ski touring on a summit overlooking the fjords.
The ascent is made on climbing skins through a spectacular maritime mountain environment, followed by a descent on ungroomed snow. The guides select the objective according to snow quality, wind and visibility.
Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 4: Exploring Efjord
The group explores a new area around Efjord, Ballangen or Stetind.
If the boat option has been booked and sea conditions are suitable, a boat trip may be organised to reach the starting point of a route or arrange a transfer along the fjord.

Day 5: Arctic Summits and Valleys
Another day of ski touring in one of the many areas accessible from the lodge.
Depending on conditions, the guides may select a panoramic summit, a sheltered valley, an attractive descent or a more alpine itinerary suited to the group’s ability.

Day 6: Ski Touring in the Narvik Area
A day of ski touring in the area offering the best available conditions.
The vertical ascent and technical difficulty are adapted to the group’s fitness and the changing weather conditions.

Day 7: Final Day of Ski Touring
The final day of ski touring in the region.
The guides select an itinerary that provides one last opportunity to enjoy the Arctic scenery while allowing enough time to prepare for the following day’s departure.

Day 8: Return Transfer
Breakfast, check-out from the lodge and group transfer to Evenes Airport, also known as Harstad/Narvik Airport.
End of the trip and return flight.
