It’s not always easy to take your first steps in ski touring. Before fully enjoying this activity, it’s important to get familiar with the specific equipment: touring skis with climbing skins, bindings with walk mode, ski crampons, suitable boots, and a safety backpack. You’ll also discover some key techniques such as the famous “kick turn” for changing direction on the ascent, the efficient use of telescopic poles, and managing your effort while climbing.
To guide you through this discovery, our certified mountain guides offer a one-day introduction to ski touring and avalanche safety. We will follow the prepared trails leading up to the Beauregard Plateau from La Clusaz, or explore the Étale area in the heart of the Aravis range. Surrounded by snowy forests, wide alpine pastures, and breathtaking views, you will experience the unique atmosphere of the winter mountains, far from the bustle of the ski resorts. A perfect outing for both nature lovers and those seeking the thrill of skiing fresh slopes.
The goal of this day is to give you the time to discover the activity gently, while learning the essential basics of safety. Alongside your guide, you will practice using avalanche safety equipment (transceiver, shovel, probe) through hands-on and accessible exercises. You will leave with the essential knowledge to enjoy the mountains with confidence and peace of mind.
Required level: beginner.
No previous ski touring experience is necessary, although being comfortable on red pistes in a ski resort is recommended.
