Via Ferrata Grand Bornand

Via Ferrata du Grand-Bornand

The via Ferrata of Grand-Bornand or of the Jalouvre tower is a big one, it is the most difficult of the Massif du Mont-Blanc and Aravis sector in this type of terrain. It is long, aerial and physical. Located in the heart of the Aravis massif, you will certainly come across ibexes and bearded vultures, so don't forget to save your strength for the descent, which holds a few surprises. This via ferrata is aimed at those who are already experienced in via ferrata, because without being difficult, it is long and requires a short day to complete.

Via Ferrata La Tour du Jalouvre

A vertiginous via ferrata

Around Annecy, at a maximum of one hour's drive, we can take you to the via ferrata of Grand Bornand or the Tour du Jallouvre, a difficult and long via ferrata that requires a day to complete. The route is varied between footbridges, slight overhangs, aerial traverses and spectacular ridges. The difficulties are not extreme but the length of the course can surprise less experienced climbers... but fortunately in via ferrata there is always a rung or a bar to rest or to tie up with your lanyard.
The setting is buccolic, in the middle of the alpine pastures of the village of Chinaillon (above Grand-Bornand), the via will give you a magnificent view of the Aravis range in the foreground, and the Mont-Blanc massif just behind, and of course when the weather is clear, you can even see the Ecrins, Belledonne or Beaufortain massif.
Your ascent will be punctuated by the tinkling of the bells of the cows located downstream, do not forget that you are in the country of the farm Reblochon and pastoralism. Whatever the case, the Tour du Jalouvre remains one of the most alpine via ferrata routes in the region.
The via ferratas allow access to verticality without having done any climbing. They take place in a mountain setting, our guides are there to guide you, reassure you if necessary and make you love our mountains. Some people discover the mountains in this way and never leave them!

What is there to do around here?
So here it is like the country where there are almost more cows than inhabitants?
Between a walk in the middle of the alpine chalets, mountain biking on the ski area fitted out for this activity, paragliding and hiking in the four corners of the Bouchet valley, there is plenty to do in Grand-Bornand!
A walk on the Col de la Colombiére side to admire the Lac de Peyre or on the Aiguille Verte side to see the Lac de Lessy will make your stay in the heart of the Aravis mountains complete.
If you are in the mood for something unusual, a short night at the Gramusset refuge at the foot of the Pointe Percée!
