via ferrata Yves Pollet-Villard à la Clusaz

Via ferrata La Clusaz

Discover the Yves Pollet-Villard via ferrata in La Clusaz! Initiated for the first time in the Dolomites in Italy, the Via Ferrates were originally equipped to facilitate the transport of men and equipment in the mountains. Today, via ferratas, or vertigo path, are good ways to climb a mountain and discover verticality gently. Halfway between hiking and climbing, you climb the rock faces of cliffs equipped with cables to progress without too much difficulty. Alone or with others, on vacation or passing through the region, the via ferrata de la Clusaz is the perfect compromise between sensations and the pleasure of discovering the Haut-Savoyard landscapes in a completely different way. Leave the floor of the cows for your next hikes and gain height to offer you postcard decorations seen from the sky. Between summits, passes, ridges and mountain pastures, the Aravis mountain range emerges in front of you. The high mountain guides from the Annecy office will be pleased to take you to discover their playground and their passion for the mountains

The paths of the vertigo

The paths of the vertigo

The ski resort of La Clusaz is known for its ski area, its ski slopes and its cross-country ski routes in winter but also for its via ferrata because it is one of the most beautiful of the northern pre-Alps and the massif of Aravis. Accessible from early spring, when snow conditions allow and the rock is dry, the La Clusaz via ferrata, also and especially called the Yves Pollet-Villard via ferrata, is one of the outdoor experiences not to be missed when you are passing through the Aravis chain or in the Annecy region. The opportunity to offer you a parenthesis in your Haute Savoie getaway, an immersion in nature which is welcome especially when the temperatures are rising.

Only 40 minutes (25km) from Lake Annecy, you can easily reach the Col des Aravis, the starting point of the via route at an altitude of 1500m, with the possibility of parking on site at the foot of the Combe de Borderan , and a few steps from the Aravis climbing school.

When you arrive at the via ferrata car park, you will find your guide who will provide you with your equipment with harness, via lanyards, absorber and helmet. As a high mountain enthusiast and professional, your guide will give you all the information and instructions that will allow you to have fun in complete safety during the activity.

For the topo of the exit, you start with an approach walk of about 25min after which the path turns into a vertical course (thanks to the bars, cables and rungs) relatively accessible thanks to many loopholes that allow you to leave the course in the event of a thunderstorm or fatigue. But beware, it is nonetheless a long and sometimes tiring undertaking. The journey time is around 3 to 4 hours to the summit that you reach after crossing a footbridge of about twenty meters above the void: sensations and breathtaking views guaranteed! Once your ascent is complete, you arrive at the highest point of the route at 1800m altitude with a total of 300m vertical drop. The return time to the vehicles is approximately 45min to the parking lot via an alpine path in the Borderan valley.

All our via ferrata outings in La Clusaz are supervised by mountain professionals who will share with you their passion for the mountains and natural sites.

Important: the departure times for this via ferrata change depending on the weather. The summer meetings are given at 7:30 am on site to avoid the hot weather in the middle of the day and thus guarantee a nice outing in complete safety.

Via ferrata of the "Tour du Jalouvre" - Grand-Bornand
