Meeting point at the Col du Chat where your guide will give you the complete equipment with harness, lanyard, climbing hooks, absorber and helmet. He will take the time to give you a quick overview of the activity, including a review of the safety instructions to be followed to ensure a perfectly safe experience.
You will then go to the start of the via ferrata, which is accessible after about 30 minutes' walk along the marked path.
Two very distinct trails are proposed:
> 1st section "Primevère à l'Oreille d'Ours" :
This route owes its name to a plant present on the site, which you will discover along the rock faces. After the passage of the beams to cross the dihedrals, the less experienced can exit through the first escape route. Then comes the most vertiginous part of the itinerary: an aerial path above a 50-metre vertical equipped with wooden crosspieces, to take full advantage of the grandiose panorama of the Lac du Bourget. At the end, an inverted ladder leads you to a caving surprise with a breathtaking view.
You then set off to discover the other side of the Roc du Cornillon, with beams and monkey bridges. After all these wonders, a second escape route allows you to reach the viewpoint to rest and enjoy a panoramic view.
You then have the option of continuing on to the second part of the route.
> 2nd section "Roc de Cornillon":
An easy route very well arranged on the cliffs and undoubtedly dedicated to the initiation.
The start is from the Roc du Cornillon lookout. You then plunge into the compact slabs of the south face, alternating with restful ledges to admire this unique landscape a little more: without question, one of the most beautiful panoramas of the Lac du Bourget. The exit of the route leads you to the Belvédère du Roc du Cornillon where you can enjoy a view of more than 160° on the Lac du Bourget.
The return journey takes 25 minutes, along the same path as the outward journey.
This part of the via ferrata is not intended to give you strong sensations. On the other hand, it is contemplative and very accessible with a small difference in altitude and magnificent views of Aix-Les-Bains, Chambéry, the Granier and of course the Dent du Chat in the mirror.
